Our Story

Some time around 1998, I stopped at the Spencer Opal Mines in Spencer, Idaho, on a whim. The first time I picked up an opal showing color, I was hooked. I kept going and going and going. I soon needed to do something with the buckets of rough that were rapidly accumulating. So I did research and found the best equipment possible to cut Spencer Opal. I then purchased everything and began the process of teaching myself how to cut Spencer Opal.

Customer Cutting

Once I had cut many of my own opals, I noticed as I went to the mine that very few people had any idea how to transform a rock into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind gemstone. Long story short, I cultivated a relationship with the mine owners. I asked permission to see if anyone would like to pay me to cut their opals. They gladly gave me permission. Two decades passed, thousands of finished opals later for people in all 50 states, Canada, China, France, and Germany. I'm still going. It would be my pleasure to cut you your own, one-of-a-kind opal.
